8816 Henry Shaw (1800–1873) – Effigy of Sir Richard Vernon – Lithograph with hand-coloring (c. 1843)

This historical and antiquarian illustration depicts the funerary effigy of Sir Richard Vernon. The print shows the knight in full plate armor, wearing a surcoat and a crown (indicating his role as Constable of England or similar high office), with his hands pressed together in prayer. His feet rest upon a lion, symbolizing courage, and his swords are brightly colored. The print is highly detailed and vibrantly hand-colored, reflecting the original painted tomb sculpture and is dated to "Circa 1460" at the top margin.
