8750 Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (1707–1788) – Le Porc et La Truie (The Pig and The Sow) – Engraving (c. 1760)

Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, was a highly influential French naturalist, mathematician, and encyclopedist of the Enlightenment era. As the intendant (director) of the Jardin du Roi in Paris, he authored and supervised the creation of his monumental 36-volume Histoire Naturelle, générale et particulière. This work became a cornerstone of natural history study, prized for its comprehensive descriptions and its vast collection of high-quality engraved plates.
