188 Carl Axel Magnus Lindman (1856–1928) – Set of 4: Wild Strawberry, Raspberry, Dewberry, and Stone Bramble Studies – Chromolithograph (Circa 1905)

This set of four detailed botanical prints illustrates several species of small, edible berries native to the Nordic region, all belonging to the genus Rubus or related genera in the rose family (Rosaceae). The plates feature the European Dewberry (Rubus caesius), Wild Strawberry (Fragaria vesca), Raspberry (Rubus idaeus), and Stone Bramble (Rubus saxatilis), detailing each plant's distinct flowers, leaves, and fruit clusters. These scientific yet highly decorative prints were produced for Bilder ur Nordens Flora (Pictures of Northern Flora), a key turn-of-the-century work documenting Scandinavian botany.
Carl Axel Magnus Lindman was a Swedish botanist, professor, and botanical illustrator known for his significant contributions to the documentation of Nordic plant life. He held a professorship at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet) in Stockholm. His magnum opus, Bilder ur Nordens Flora, published between 1901 and 1905, was designed to be both scientifically accurate and accessible to the public. It remains a definitive and aesthetically influential work in European botanical illustration.
