This set of four antique engravings "Perseus hält seinen Feinden den Kopf der Medusa vor." (Perseus Holds the Head of Medusa), "Cyparissus wird zum Erzt in eine Cypresse verwandelt." (Cyparissus Transformed into a Cypress Tree), "Minerva besucht die Musen am Helicon." (Minerva Visiting the Muses on Mount Helicon), "Durch Apollo’s Roste bezaubert, ergiebt sich Leucothea ohne Widerstand." (Apollo’s Love for Leucothea) illustrates dramatic moments from Greek and Roman mythology, each capturing a significant mythological transformation, divine intervention, or heroic act. These prints, executed with highly detailed line work and strong chiaroscuro, reflect the 18th-century Neoclassical engraving tradition, likely based on paintings or drawings by a renowned classical artist. The inscriptions in German suggest that these prints were part of a mythological or historical book published in Germany or Austria.

The engravings were created by Johann Friedrich Bause (1738–1814), Christian G. Cook, and Johann Jakob Haid (1704–1767), all of whom were renowned German engravers specializing in historical, mythological, and portrait engravings. They worked in the Neoclassical style, producing highly detailed copperplate engravings for academic collections and aristocratic patrons. The engraver of the Cyparissus scene remains unknown.
