12639 Claes Jansz Visscher (1587–1652) – The Death of Lazarus – Engraving (17th)

"Factum est autem ut moreretur mendicus, et protaretur ab angelis in sinum Abrahae" is an engraving featuring the biblical scene of the death of the beggar Lazarus. The composition displays Lazarus lying on a straw bed in a rustic interior, with his soul being received by three winged angels emerging from celestial clouds, while a dog rests faithfully at the foot of his bed. This plate is part of a series of New Testament illustrations published in Amsterdam during the Dutch Golden Age.
