"Pavo" depicts three peacocks in various stances, showcasing both male and female plumage variations. This copperplate engraving is from the natural history volume Historiae Naturalis de Avibus, published by Matthäus Merian in Frankfurt in 1653. Joannes Jonstonus was a Polish-Scottish physician, naturalist, and educator.
