Johannes Kip (Jan Kip) was a Dutch draughtsman, engraver, and print seller who immigrated to London following the accession of William of Orange. Kip was celebrated for his detailed topographical engravings, frequently working in collaboration with the artist Leonard Knyff. His most famous works include the large-format illustrations for Britannia Illustrata (1707) and the views published in The Ancient and Present State of Glostershire (1712). These prints are invaluable primary sources for the study of English Baroque architecture, landscape, and formal garden design of the period.
