Edme Mentelle was a prominent French geographer and historian who specialized in classical geography and chronological studies. He served as a professor at the Ecole Normale and was a member of the Institut de France. His maps were widely utilized for educational purposes, helping to standardize the visualization of ancient history for 19th-century scholars.
