"Asie". This geographical map offers a comprehensive view of the Asian continent as it was documented during the late Enlightenment. The engraving illustrates the vast territories of the Russian Empire, the Chinese Empire, and the Indian subcontinent, along with the Southeast Asian archipelago and parts of the Pacific. Notable features include the detailed rendering of the Caspian Sea, the Arabian Peninsula, and the early cartographic understanding of the Bering Strait and the coastline of New Holland. The composition includes a title block in the upper left and a series of distance scales in the lower left corner. This work was published in Paris as part of the Atlas de toutes les parties connues du globe terrestre by the publisher Jean-Leonard Pellet in 1780.

Rigobert Bonne was a French cartographer and mathematician who held the prestigious position of Royal Hydrographer at the Depot de la Marine. He was responsible for producing highly accurate maritime charts and terrestrial maps that served both scientific and military purposes. Bonne is recognized for his significant contributions to the encyclopedic projects of the Enlightenment, including his collaboration with Guillaume Raynal. His maps are characterized by a refined aesthetic and a commitment to updated geographical data, influencing European cartography for several decades.
