This map is a geographical chart detailing the region of Scandinavia, covering the kingdoms of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark (including the territory of Finland, then part of Sweden). The title cartouche in the upper left corner identifies the map as La Scandinavie ou La Suede et Danmark. The map features detailed topography, marking cities, towns, boundaries, and waterways. The political boundaries of the countries and their internal subdivisions are highlighted with contemporary hand-colouring. This work was published as a standard geographical representation of Northern Europe in one of Le Rouge's compilations.

Georges-Louis Le Rouge was a German-born French military engineer, surveyor, and cartographer who became the "Ingénieur Géographe du Roi" (Geographical Engineer to the King). Active in Paris from the 1740s, he was a prolific publisher who compiled, engraved, and printed thousands of maps, including general world atlases and battle plans, often copying and adapting the latest cartographical work from other European countries for the French market. His key works include the Atlas Nouveau Portatif.
