This hand-colored copperplate engraving depicts three large, trumpet-shaped flowers of the Amaryllis Equestris from The Botanical Magazine. The flowers display variations in coloration, including white with red/pink stripes and a solid reddish-yellow bloom. Two narrow, long green leaves complete the composition. The print provides a detailed scientific and aesthetic representation of the specimen.

William Curtis was an English botanist and entomologist best known for founding the influential publication The Botanical Magazine, which featured high-quality hand-colored illustrations of exotic and familiar plants. Though he died in 1799, the magazine continued under his name and influence for many years.
