This original woodcut leaf from Sebastian Münster’s Cosmographia features an early map of Denmark (Danmarck), depicting major regions such as Schleswig, Jutland, Funen, Zealand, Scania, and Gotland, along with nearby cities including Copenhagen, Lübeck, and Hamburg. The page marks the transition from the Third to the Fourth Book of the Cosmographia, introduced by an ornate Renaissance headpiece.

Sebastian Münster was a renowned German cartographer, cosmographer, and scholar. His Cosmographia (first published in 1544) was the first comprehensive description of the known world in the German language, featuring maps, city views, and woodcuts that greatly influenced geographical and ethnographic thought in Renaissance Europe.
