This architectural print compares different forms of ancient temples, presenting two structures in elevation and two corresponding floor plans. This visual comparison of antique forms is an exemplary illustration from Book III (Delle antichità) of Serlio's highly influential treatise on architecture, Tutte l'opere d'architettura et prospetiva.

Sebastiano Serlio was an Italian Mannerist architect and theorist. He was a pivotal figure in the history of architecture, known for his comprehensive treatise which codified the five classical orders and spread Renaissance architectural styles throughout Europe.
