Dominique Vivant Denon (1747–1825) was a French artist, writer, diplomat, and archaeologist, best known for his role as the official artist on Napoleon’s Egyptian expedition. His detailed sketches, engravings, and writings contributed significantly to European knowledge of Egyptian antiquities and culture. Denon later became the first director of the Louvre Museum in Paris, playing a key role in shaping modern museum practice.
