"Carte d'Allemagne Comprenant les Etats Prussiens et le Royaume de Pologne." This hand-coloured etching illustrates the complex geopolitical landscape of Central Europe following the Congress of Vienna. The map delineates the various member states of the German Confederation, the expansive territories of the Prussian Monarchy, and the Kingdom of Poland under Russian influence. Hand-applied colour outlines define the shifting borders of major powers like the Austrian Empire and the secondary German kingdoms such as Bavaria, Saxony, and Württemberg. The composition includes detailed hydrography, mountain ranges, and a dense network of cities and towns, reflecting the updated cartographic standards of the early nineteenth century. This edition was published in Paris by Jean-Baptiste Delaval in 1822.

Charles-Victor Monin was a highly active French cartographer and geographer based in Paris during the first half of the nineteenth century. He was renowned for his precision in drafting and his ability to synthesize complex political changes into clear, readable maps for both scholarly and public use. Monin frequently collaborated with major publishers like Delaval and Langlois to produce universal atlases and specialized regional maps that accounted for the rapid border redefinitions of the post-Napoleonic era. His work is noted for its technical accuracy in longitude and latitude and its refined aesthetic quality. Monin’s maps remain important historical records of the administrative consolidation of the German states and the reorganization of Eastern Europe.
