12386 Leonhard Christoph Sturm (1669–1719) – Architectural Study of a Facade with Corinthian Columns, Pedimented Windows, and Sectional Plan – Engraving (c. 1710–1720)

"V.te Eckform mit Gekuppelten und geblindeten Ecksaulen". This technical architectural engraving presents a detailed elevation of a Baroque facade featuring paired Corinthian columns, an elaborate entablature, and a central window crowned with a triangular pediment and balustrade. The composition includes a vertical cross-section on the left showing the projection of the moldings and a ground plan at the base detailing the structural profile and measurements in modules. This plate was published as part of Sturm's extensive series of architectural treatises, likely from his influential "Prodromus Architecturae Goldmannianae," published in Augsburg by Jeremias Wolff between 1714 and 1721.
Leonhard Christoph Sturm was a prominent German master builder and architectural theorist who dedicated much of his career to expanding and publishing the work of Nicolaus Goldmann. He served as a professor of mathematics and architecture in Wolfenbüttel and Frankfurt an der Oder before becoming the director of buildings for the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Sturm was instrumental in disseminating the classical orders and Protestant church designs throughout Northern Europe during the early eighteenth century. His publications are regarded as essential records of the transition from late Baroque to early Neoclassical architectural principles.
