10010 Georges-Louis Le Rouge (1712–1790) – Map of Provence and Dauphiné – Hand-colored engraving (1750)

This hand-colored engraving is a detailed regional map covering the southeastern French provinces of Provence and Dauphiné. The map was published by Sieur Le Rouge in Paris and displays the political boundaries, major cities, rivers, and topography of the area, extending to the Gulf of Lion and the Gulf of Genoa. The internal boundaries of the provinces are delineated by hand-coloring, following the cartographic style of the mid-18th century.
Georges-Louis Le Rouge was a highly prolific French cartographer, engraver, and engineer who operated a prominent cartographic publishing house in Paris during the mid-to-late 18th century. He is best known for producing numerous comprehensive atlases, military maps, and collections of detailed city plans, based on the latest geographical observations, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in French Enlightenment cartography.
