9995 Bernard de Montfaucon (1655–1741) - Studies of Ancient Egyptian Deities and Statuary - Copperplate Engraving (Early 18th Century)

This copperplate engraving is an archaeological plate displaying five detailed studies of Ancient Egyptian figures and statuary. The composition includes a partial view of a large figure holding a smaller figure, a full-body male figure, and representations of Egyptian gods. The print originated from a monumental historical and archaeological publication documenting the visual record of antiquity.
Bernard de Montfaucon was a French Benedictine monk, scholar, and paleographer. He is celebrated for his vast contributions to the study of classical and Egyptian antiquities, most notably his comprehensive and heavily illustrated multi-volume work, L'Antiquité expliquée et représentée en figures.
